Strategic importance of Logos December 20, 2011

The creative and stylish logos are definitely an intrinsic part of a new business endeavour that one might be planning on initiating. In fact it helps you in putting the best foot forward and it might also help to shake off the sluggish sales figures that might be bothering you (in case you have an existing business).

The importance of Corporate Logo Design was felt at the time when companies felt the need to gain a competitive edge over others; and thereby they aimed at creating an emblem that could denote their products so that the customers could remember them and could segregate a particular brand from hordes of other similar products that were available in the market. Logos in that respect became a symbol that could make a mark on the minds of illiterate people who could not read the labels. Therefore logos can also be termed as a spokesperson of the company; that is precisely supposed to convey the same perspective to the buyers as others are. With the upsurge in markets and also flooding of the markets with many consumer goods the needs of logos began to take a rise. It was felt that for the consumers to identify with their products the logos should have a unique type face with aesthetically appropriate colour coordination all represented in an emblem that conveys the objectives of the company to the core.

Now that is definitely a very challenging task for a logo designing company to accomplish. Therefore for well established companies that want to make logo designing their forte, it is imperative and primordial that they understand the corporate objectives of the business houses. What is the targeted customer that they are planning to conquer? What is the objective of the company… is it to target sales or is it brand promotion? What is the medium of sales that the company is trying to follow? Is it going to be through online sales, retails or direct selling mediums? Having information in regards to all these things would help the company to make designs of the logo coherent to the company’s requirements in all the cases. For example if the company is looking for online sales then it is mandatory to have a logo in addition to an avatar that would be able to portray them well in the social media sites as well. It is also very essential that the logos are not only designed well, rather they should be unique so that the consumers are able to relate the designs to a particular company only. In that respect aspects such as appearance of a logo on stationery, or a black and white copy of the logo (from photocopiers) does not look too cumbersome. It should stand out as distinctly as ‘your product’ that is exclusively meant for a particular company only just like the half eaten ‘apple logo’ for Apple products! That is the power of a good logo design!
